NumeriSnap Privacy Policy

Numerita LLC ("we") makes NumeriSnap, an app for small business owners to photograph receipts, keep their books and prepare for taxes. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your books stay on your phone, and nothing leaves it unless you sign in to back up, turn on Smart reading, or choose to export or share a file.

Using NumeriSnap without an account

You can use every feature without signing in. Your receipt photos, entries, categories, business details and settings are stored only on your device. We do not receive them. (If you turn on Smart reading, receipt photos are also sent to Microsoft Azure to be read; see below.)

Camera, photos and phone permissions

NumeriSnap uses your camera only when you tap to scan a receipt, rate confirmation, bill of lading or odometer. To use a photo you already took, you choose it in your phone's own photo picker, and the app receives only the photos you pick. NumeriSnap does not read or upload the rest of your photo library. On iPhone, the app can also save a receipt photo to your library when you ask it to.

The app does not use your location, contacts, microphone or advertising ID. On Android it uses internet access (for sign-in, backup and Smart reading) and Google Play billing (for subscriptions).

Subscriptions and purchases

Subscriptions are bought and managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes your payment; we never see your card or bank details. The app only checks with the store, on your phone, whether your subscription or free trial is active.

Reading and translating receipts

By default, receipt text is read and translated on your device (Google ML Kit on iPhone and Android), and photos and receipt text are not sent to us or to Google for this. The first time you translate, the app downloads a Spanish language pack from Google; that download does not include your data.

Smart reading (optional, included with your subscription, off until you turn it on). The app asks before your first scan, and you can turn it on or off any time in More › Smart reading. When it is on and you have signal, each receipt photo you scan is sent over an encrypted connection to our reading service on Microsoft Azure, which uses Azure AI Document Intelligence to read the store name, date, subtotal, tax and total and sends them back to the app. The app then works out the payment method and category on your phone. Right after reading, our service asks Azure to delete the photo and its result; Azure deletes them within 24 hours in any case. Microsoft does not use them to train AI models or for advertising, and we do not keep them. Receipts can contain your name, member numbers or the last digits of a card; do not turn on Smart reading if you do not want receipt photos sent to Microsoft.

Trucker add-on

Rate confirmations and odometer photos are read on your device with Google ML Kit; they are not sent to Smart reading or to us. Invoices, per diem days, miles and these photos are stored on your device like your other entries, and are backed up only if you sign in. When you send an invoice, the app creates a PDF and hands it to the app you pick in the share sheet; we do not send it for you. Only enter other people's contact details (for example a broker's email) when you need them on an invoice.

If you sign in (optional)

You can sign in with Apple, Google, or an email and password to back up your books. When you do, we store the following in your private account on Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), used only to back up and restore your data on your devices:

  • Your email address and an account ID (and your name, if Apple or Google shares it).
  • Your entries: amounts, dates, vendors or customers, categories, payment methods and notes.
  • Your receipt photos and the text read from them.
  • Your categories.
  • If you use the Trucker add-on: your invoices (including the broker or shipper names, emails, cities, dates and load numbers you enter), per diem days, mileage entries, and photos of rate confirmations, bills of lading and odometers.

If you use "Hide My Email" with Sign in with Apple, we only receive the relay address.

Your business profile, including any SSN or EIN you enter, stays on your device and is not backed up.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We don't show ads and don't track you across other apps or websites.
  • We don't use analytics or advertising SDKs.

Service providers

We use Google Firebase to provide sign-in and backup (only if you sign in), Apple and Google for their sign-in services and to process subscriptions (App Store and Google Play), Google ML Kit for on-device text recognition and translation, and Microsoft Azure (Azure Functions and Azure AI Document Intelligence) for Smart reading if you turn it on. They process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored encrypted by Google. Each account can only read its own data.

Your choices and deleting your data

  • Export: Reports › Export for taxes, and More › Backup, give you copies of your data at any time.
  • Sign out: More › Account and backup › Sign out. Your data stays on your phone.
  • Delete your account: More › Account and backup › Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and everything backed up to it. You can also choose to erase the data on your phone.
  • Without an account: deleting the app deletes all of its data from your phone.

Children

NumeriSnap is meant for adults running a business and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app for significant changes.
